Unvented hot water cylinders
Mains-pressure hot water from a cylinder. I install them, replace them, and service the safety valves.

An unvented cylinder stores hot water at mains pressure. I install a new one or replace an old one, with the pipework, the safety valves and the controls.
It suits a house that wants mains-pressure hot water, including a house on a heat pump. I check the mains flow and the space before I say what will fit.
What the job involves
- A new cylinder, or a replacement
- Pipework to the taps and the heat source
- Safety valves and the discharge pipe
- An annual service of the valves and the pressure
What I check
- Mains pressure and flow, before the cylinder is chosen
- Where it sits, and the discharge route
- The heat source, including a heat pump
- The safety valves, on install and at a service

I don't do boiler or gas work.
Questions
Is this a vented tank in the loft?
No. An unvented cylinder is a mains-pressure hot water cylinder, usually in a cupboard, not an open tank in the loft.
Do you service them?
Yes. I check the safety valves, the pressure and the discharge pipe, and I service them each year.
Do you work on the boiler that heats it?
No. I don't do boiler or gas work. If the heat comes from a gas boiler, you need a Gas Safe engineer for the boiler.
